• Banner Elk - 20 mins closest town to Beech, small but cute downtown with nice restaurants, an arcade and ice cream shop, keep going down the mountain and you get to grandfather mountain 

• Blowing rock - 45 mins cute town with lots of restaurants and shopping, must see is THE blowing rock with amazing views and it’s wheelchair accessible so anyone can do it 

• Boone - 45 mins college town of Appalachian State, biggest town nearby has a Publix, car dealerships, cute downtown with antique stores and shops
