DINING

Enjoy a peak dining delight on Beech Mountain where almost every meal comes with a view! Most local restaurants are surrounded by stunning mountain scenery.

Wineries:

  • Grandfather winery - our favorite, always fun and busy, has music and a food truck all the time, mostly outdoor but does have fireplaces, tents with plastic walls, etc in the winter

  • Banner elk winery - also fun, better indoor area but also lots of room outdoors, has cheese and cracker type snacks available

  • Linville winery - haven’t been here but heard its nice

  • Beech Mountain winery - COMING SOON! :-)

Restaurants - On the Mountain

  • First Chair - coffee shop right outside of the resort, WiFi and cute area with couches, anything you order from Starbucks you can find here, can’t be in a big hurry though

  • Brick Oven Pizza - thicker crust, has good wings, a craft beer wall, an arcade and you can play mini golf out front

  • Holy Smokes BBQ - pulled chicken is our favorite, indoor and outdoor seating, a cute little store inside for souvenirs and fudge

  • Fred’s - back side of the general store, old school decor, breakfast and lunch, they sometimes have events like shrimp boils where you can socialize a bit

  • Bullwinkles - sports bar type atmosphere, good NY style pizza, summertime concerts every Sunday 5pm

  • Alpen Inn - same building as Bullwinkles, upstairs, finer dining

  • Mi Jalisco - Mexican food, good view, stairs required, decent service, food isn’t terrible but not great, downstairs area you have to walk through to get upstairs is a bit musty

Restaurants - Nearby

  • Chef’s Table - fanciest restaurant around and VERY good, upstairs from Sorrento’s, excellent food and they have a flambé dessert chef, make a reservation

  • Sorrento - Italian restaurant and deli, in the Village of Banner Elk

  • Banner Elk Cafe - 3 restaurants in one including a coffee shop and bakery items, has something for everyone, lots of gluten free options, indoor and outdoor seating

  • Stonewalls - nice steakhouse, good food and service, make a reservation

  • Puerto Nuevo - best Mexican food in the area, super cute inside, very busy place

  • Williams Deli & Bakery - excellent sandwiches, good coffee, has really good gluten free bread, good to order and take out for hikes, breakfast and lunch only
